The Comité Intérieur Colonial was created in 1928 to unite the major actors within the network of the Société générale de Belgiique. The aim was to control and lead the businesses of the group and the companies in which the group had interests. The committee presented itself as a solid union and constituted a sort of state within the state. When social problems arose in the 1950s, task force was set up to tackle this issue.
